Park Amaryllis Keukenhof Innovation Fund for Sustainable Water-Based Forcing

Park Amaryllis receives contribution from the Keukenhof Innovation Fund for sustainable water forcing

LISSE — Park Amaryllis is launching an innovative project to develop and validate a broadly applicable forcing protocol on water trays. With this initiative, the company aims to significantly reduce the cost price and energy consumption of amaryllis cultivation. The project is made possible in part by a financial contribution from the recently launched Keukenhof Innovation Fund.

Sustainability and innovation in ornamental horticulture

Conversations between Keukenhof and the sector showed that entrepreneurs are highly willing to invest collectively in renewal. Because early-stage investments often involve risks, Keukenhof established the Innovation Fund. The fund encourages creative ideas and collaboration within the flower bulb and ornamental horticulture sector, with the aim of making a visible contribution to sustainability within two to four years.

Amaryllis on water forcing

Park Amaryllis's project fits seamlessly with the fund's ambitions. By optimising cultivation and forcing on water trays and capturing it in a standardised protocol, cultivation becomes more efficient and more energy-friendly. A successful validation means not only lower operational costs and a smaller CO₂ footprint for Park Amaryllis, but also offers valuable insights that can be applied more broadly across the sector.

Building a future-proof sector together

With the support of the Keukenhof Innovation Fund, Park Amaryllis is taking an important step towards the further professionalisation and greening of amaryllis cultivation. Innovation, creativity and sector-wide collaboration are central to this project, preparing ornamental horticulture for the future.
